How fabulous, thank you for letting us see these so quickly. What a treat, frist days of school. the excitement, the promise of things to cime. Wonderful.
What a great Gobble Gobble we had, the turkey was the best ever. I started work, what a shock to get up at 4 am to get to work. I am still reserved on this outcome. I bought a new car with much better milage, but the GPS took me over the woods and rock ravine, damage was done to the undercarriage, will have to wait til it is looked at to see how bad. Aunt Barbara is still in the rehab and not progresssing as she should, I am not pleased. Aunt Eunices funeral was nice, so things are marching on as they do in life. Pat is coming today so we can visit Aunt Barbara and I hope all is well. I actually got my T-day things away and Christmas decor up. Whoo Hooo !!!!!

Well the cable is officially off and I have no land line, I did sign up for Skype and my number is 603-729-3026, there is a "to go" number but it is unclear to me how that works, I think I have voice mail but have not tested it, gotta have mental gymnastics ready when you start this stuff. Just to refresh everyone I need to be online and signed in for the Skype phone to work. Paul, Joanne, Elizaeth Pat and I, had a great time at the Doobie Brothers last night and we went back stage and chatted for quite awhile and they gave us autographed pictures and we bought the Rock On braclets to make us officially rockers I guess. Weird seeing all those people over fifty rocking out. Summer have arrived and I have the air on for the first time, I guess better late that never. Trina is still in Positano and loving it. I am sure Sharon is busy getting the girls ready for school... time flies..

8-21-2009; Inglorious Bastards... Perfect title for this Quentin Tarantino film with Brad Pitt.. I dont know what to tell you, it was different that is for sure. It had some laughs but not ha ha type. It is classic Tarantino and for those fans it is probably fabulous. It was 2 and 1/2 hours long and I barely fidgeted and that was with no popcorn or drink or snack of any kind, so I guess I would say go and pay mattinee and no food. The movie is about a bunch of guys killing natzi's in WWII and it is a parody, and as in most of his films there is no good guy here either.
8-14-09 District 9; Sort of sci fi but not what we are used to.. filmed in South Africa it is interesting and socially introspective, I do not think it will be big in the US. but then we always surprise ourselves
3-20-2009; Duplicity; Julia Roberts, completely fabulous, you need to be sharp on this one, fast paced and brain using, the chemistry was so good I wanted to find someone to kiss after this movie. Worth full price plus large drink and large popcorn and alI I can tell you is that it makes the Thomas Crown Affair pale in comparison. And Cary Grant, move over, there is a new sherriff in town.
3-20-2009; Knowing, Nicolas Cage and that girl from Damages, fabulous sci-fi Signs kind of movie, directly from a few well known flics, a few hokey scenes, especially the end, but over all worth mattinee and a meal or full price and small popcorn. Some thrills and one or two chills, round out this very enjoyable flic.
1-30-09; TAKEN, the story of Liem Neison getting his daughter back, very typical and of course he gets her back, but I gotta tell ya, I just love these I am gonna take you out if you mess with me films. No being nice, no wondering what the world will think , no pleasing anyone, just Death Wish and Dirty Harry type vengence. Ahh.. says something about us huh? Anyway I liked it, but then again it had no message, no reason to be,...well... who cares? Liam is getting old, He will not be able to do many more action flics, may put his back out. Full Price and maybe popcorn.
12-14-08: The Day The Earth Stood Still: Lets just cut to the chase, wait for it to be on TV. Maybe. Jennifer never got to say Klatu Barrata Nikto, or however it would be spelled. Her son was black making this a blended family, she was the second wife even, just to give you an idea of the silliness of the movie, it had more tv actors in it than on a Saturday night watching the tube, I have to tell you, those guys from Prison Break on fox are all over the new releases, and the regular guys on the sci fi movie of the week are in here too. The only movie actors were Keanu and Jennifer. Now this was not a bad movie, it simply had little to hold your interest, predictable of course, but I was not particularly entertained. I would say no money should be spent, no popcorn either.
12-05-2008 Transporter 3, fabulously gratuitous shirtless Jason Stratham. I mean WooHooo.... so much it was silly, the french cop was more witty and made me laugh, the girl was a complete through in, and the bad guy was the handless dude from Prison Break. It had all the things a good trasporter flic should have, pure entertainment.
Quantum of Solace....All a Bond film should be. Now I have not remembered who Vespa was, clearly a big part of this film, and I never got what the plot was as I could not hear athe converstions, in the mist of this, will tell you it is a fabulous film, no special gadgets, just the best action sequences I have ever seen, realistic, fast and whoever did the editing should get an Academy Award. The Bond guy is fine, I miss the Bond theme, and the cooler scenes, but this was an edgier version of the usual. By the way I saw it at lunch at Smitty's and had the best Turkey burger I have ever had in my life. I give this film full price plus popcorn.
Movie notes: I noticed Joanne get the kids pack this summer, it is small drink, a serving carton with popcorn and a fun size M&M/Skittles in it. It is $ 5.00. Well, guess what, you get free refills !! Yup, even for us. I asked the guy and he said yes. I tried it and it worked. So we can get cheap eats too !!
10-28-08 Quarantine, the best horror movie I have seen in decades, reminicent of Alfred Hitchcock, scared the bejesus out of me. The filming was superb, editor fabulous, acting oscar worthy, I loved this movie. Make no mistake, it is no Citizen Kane, but it is not supposed to be. The cast is in a building and can not get out. People turn into Zombies and you are on the edge of your set the whole time. I know this genre is not most of your cup of blood, but I give this review: Full Price plus popcorn !!! Yippee, I may never sleep again, but what a great scary movie.
10-23-08 Max Payne; ok, it is Thursday night and I think I'll go to the movies, I get my groove on and head over to see Body of Lies and am halfway there it dawns on me I already saw it. Yikes. Max Payne is the only movie starting. In I go and of course am the only person in there. Anyway it has all the folks in I know, Sucre from Prison Break, the speedy girl from Heros, Beau Bridges from Stargate, the other guy know but can
not remember, for the film it is action adventure with special effects, my kind movie, but a tired story. Still good, review is mattinee plus kids pack. Story is Mark Walburg looking for revenge of the murder of his wife and child.
10-11-08 Body of Lies, excellent film, no fantasy here and no endearing characters, it is a story of terrorism and the lengths that must be acheived to produce results. Realistic as far as we could possibly know, good twists and turns, and a minor love interest. There is no one to love in this film. Crowe and De Caprio are fabulous. If this is your kind of film, full price plus popcorn is my review.
10-7-08 Blindness, well, certainly not mainstream, more independent style, had Julianna Moore , it was very gritty, certainly not sci-fi at all, it was more man's inhumanity to man, human spirit and all that. It was a great film, but not for the faint of heart. I would not say anyone would like it.
10-3-08 Eagle Eye, now your talking, my kind of movie, action and adventure, intrigue and suspense, yipee, car crashes and everything. It is about a super computer that decides to take over 2 peoples lives to fulfill its mission. Very cool. Loved it. Matinee plus popcorn for sure.
10-01-08 Transsiberia, Woody Harrilson, saw it at the new Red River Theaters in Concord, they show Independent type films. Was I surprised! Stadium seating, just gorgeous. Cheap too, popcorn and a drink was only $5.00. Anyway the film was good, gritty and real, it showed the under belly of the soviet drug trade, the niativity of the American tourist and the resliliance of those same tourists when their survival was at stake. Trina, you will love it, though it is violent, this is no mainstream film, but I give it full price plus popcorn. Ben Kinglsy was supurb.
9-20-08 Ghost Town, what a great film, the belly laughs were ongoing. I loved the lead, that british humor is just so calm. I hit my knees many times in this film, beautifully written, acted, edited and directed worth full price plus popcorn. Yes, you are right, it is not my kind of film, but I laughed myself silly. Go forth and enjoy.
9-14-08 Read before Burning, Fabulous. Matinee plus popcorn or full price no popcorn. I forgot how to use my brain in a film and appreciate nuances that are so funny in their films. It certainly was confusing and many aspects still were at the end, I think some critical footage was left on the screening room floor, but the premise of the film was there. Brad Pitt was fabulous. He played his character so well, he was the best one of the film. I have no idea what Clooney's character was even after the film was over, but we laughed out loud and other people did as well. Most of us were still laughing when we walked out. Can't say that about many films in this day.
